Other factors such as level of studies, choices of program, and academic background also play a significant role in getting accepted, thus, making NSU Medicine a challenging university to enter.

The university has a formal event called the White Coat Ceremony. The ceremony's purpose is to welcome new students into the medical fraternity officially. The white coat represents the medical profession. The faculties or educators will put the white coats on the students to welcome them into the community and to "serve as a reminder of the highest level of professional conduct and ethics required of a doctor at all times." Additionally, the ceremony serves another purpose: the Meet & Greet. This year it will be a hybrid event; the physical school tour is on 12 May – 14 May and the virtual session is on 14 May at 9 A.M. to 12 P.M. It is conducted to allow new students to know more information about the university, such as about student life, community involvement programs, research opportunities, and support systems through the faculty members and senior students. Knowing these things will allow the students to get accustomed to the environment.
